Copyright Policy

The International Journal of Social Sciences – Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan University (IJSS-SJAU) respects and protects the intellectual property rights of authors and is committed to maintaining transparent and ethical scholarly publishing practices.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright to their original work published in IJSS-SJAU unless otherwise agreed in a written publishing agreement.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is original, that they have the necessary rights to submit and publish the work, and that publication of the manuscript will not infringe the copyright or other intellectual property rights of any third party.

2. License to Publish

Authors grant IJSS-SJAU the necessary non-exclusive rights to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, and make the published article available online as part of the journal's scholarly publication.

This license allows the journal to publish and preserve the article while allowing authors to retain their copyright and appropriate scholarly reuse rights.

3. Open Access and Licensing

IJSS-SJAU supports open access to scholarly research. The specific reuse rights of each published article are determined by the Creative Commons license displayed on the article's webpage and PDF.

The applicable license should be clearly identified on every published article. This is important because copyright and licensing determine how readers and other researchers may reuse scholarly content.

Recommended license for IJSS-SJAU:

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

Under CC BY 4.0, users may share and adapt the work, including for commercial purposes, provided appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), a link to the license is provided, and changes are indicated.

Copyright © [Year] The Author(s). This article is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

  • Deposit or share the article in institutional or subject repositories, subject to the applicable license and any relevant third-party rights.
  • Develop the published research into future scholarly work, provided that the original publication is appropriately acknowledged.

5. Third-Party Copyright

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material belonging to third parties, including:

  • Figures
  • Tables

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original and do not infringe the copyright, intellectual property, or other legal rights of another person or organization.

Authors must properly cite and acknowledge the sources of ideas, quotations, data, figures, tables, and other materials used in their manuscripts.

IJSS-SJAU may take appropriate editorial action if credible evidence of copyright infringement, plagiarism, or other intellectual-property violations is identified.

7. Copyright and Published Articles

The copyright holder and applicable license information should be clearly displayed on the full text of published articles, including the HTML and PDF versions, where applicable. This supports transparency and allows readers to understand their rights to reuse published content.

8. Corrections, Retractions, and Copyright

If an article requires correction, retraction, or another post-publication update, IJSS-SJAU will maintain an appropriate record of the publication and clearly identify the relevant notice.

Where applicable, information concerning corrections, withdrawals, and retractions will also be reflected in the article's scholarly metadata and Crossmark information. Crossref recommends including relevant license and update information in article metadata.

9. Copyright of the Journal Website

The copyright of the IJSS-SJAU website, including its original design, editorial content, logos, and website materials, is separate from the copyright of individual scholarly articles.

Copyright and licensing information for individual articles applies to those articles and does not automatically grant permission to reproduce the journal's website, logo, or other protected materials.

10. Copyright Concerns and Complaints

Any author, reader, researcher, or rights holder who believes that material published by IJSS-SJAU infringes copyright should contact the Editorial Office with sufficient information to identify the material and explain the nature of the concern.
